AIR was formed in fall of 2002 as a volunteer organization dedicated to fostering a stronger business environment for Asheville’s locally owned and operated independent restaurants. On April 14, 2004 AIR was recognized at a 501(a) non-profit organization. In 2008 the AIR Foundation was formed to fund culinary scholarships.
